where’s that easy button?

don’t you hate it when you see a picture of something and you think, that is perfect! it’s lovely! it’s exactly what i think i might want to do!

and then you DON’T SAVE IT?

and then you realize that, yes, that IS something you actually want to do and you had the perfect proof that it isn’t some crazy hare-brained scheme. that it’s actually doable and looks fabulous.

i’m having one of those moments right now.

you see, i saw this picture a while back of some wedding where the couple had hung tissue paper pomanders in the trees and it just looked so lovely and casual and laid back, which is what i’m shooting for. of course, at the time i thought just how perfect it would be and would come back to bookmark it. alas, i forgot and now, months and months later, i don’t even have the slightest idea of where i saw it because there are MILLIONS of wedding blogs. and that makes me sad.

so the moral of this story: if you see a picture of something you think you might want to do, for the love of bob the builder, SAVE IT. don’t be like me.

paper source wedding day details workshop

August 14, 2009  |  announcements, inspirations  |  2 Comments

if you’re one of the lucky ones to live within driving distance of a paper source, i highly recommend you check this workshop out. i haven’t been to one but from what i read on weddingbee, they’re pretty good. i wish i could go this year but unfortunately i don’t think my econ professor would accept this as a viable excuse for missing class.

boo.

check out all the information on paper source!

and if you go, can you let me know how it went?

when is a guestbook not a guestbook?

when it’s in a box!

of course.

pictures compliments of something old, something new. but i am really liking this idea for a guestbook alternative and i wish i had came across it to share with alisha was combing through alternatives. while these are available from cut the cake designs on etsy [there are also some really cute invitation designs available, definitely check it out! i do spy an opportunity to have a cohesive look with the paper design throughout the wedding] these boxes can be replicated at home, for the diy-inclined.

plus, after the wedding, instead of having some book you might never look through again, you can just switch out the cards and use the box for recipes! or notes! or bills! or…let’s just say it’s easily reusable.

lovely garlands

June 19, 2009  |  ceremony, inspirations  |  2 Comments

thanks to our recently wedded tto, i have developed a case of garland fever. after featuring a few fantastic options on her site, i have decided that this was definitely something that i could incorporate into our ceremony decor.

coffee filter garland

tissue streamers

but how?

planning so far ahead of an engagement is a double-edged sword. sure you have plenty of time to find great ideas but then you have tons of ideas that you want to incorporate into everything only to have a lot of…stuff. but that’s for another day.

anywho, after thinking on it for a while, i figured out what it is i could do: pew decorations!

if we end up getting married in california i’d very much like to get married in my church. however, we have individual chairs and not the pew benches common in many churches so typical decorations won’t necessarily work [which was a bummer] but being the smart cookie that i am, i decided that i could make a garland for the chairs! if i end up doing an aisle runner this would be a great way to keep people from walking on it pre-ceremony.

i thought of using paper lanterns but that wasn’t as cost effective as i had hoped, but then a flash of brilliance:

carnation lei

i could emulate carnation leis! except instead of using carnations, i could make smaller tissue paper poms [smaller than the ones i made for jacki's bridal shower] and string THOSE together!

tissue poms

and there we have a birth of an idea. i can easily make these way ahead of time and cheaply [because what's cheaper than tissue paper?]! if i really wanted, i could start today! but don’t tell me that because i shouldn’t start today. the boy would probably appreciate it if i didn’t start today. i tend to have an “accumulation” problem.

but you know i’m tempted. like real tempted. i need to at least try it out.

let’s just say i can check off one thing from the list. pending the boy’s approval, of course.
